We carry out initiatives aimed at closing the gender gap and creating spaces of equality between men and women.
One of our most recognized initiatives is Women in Network, which promotes the integration of women into the technical field of telecommunications. Today, in Colombia, more than 600 female technicians are part of our team. This program has earned important recognitions for its impact on reducing gender gaps, such as the Scotiabank Equality Award, the XII “Premio Internacional Corresponsables” in Spain, and Ranking PAR 2022. It was also selected by the United Nations Global Compact as one of only 34 practices, out of 216 submissions, that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Policies and programs have also been implemented to encourage work-life balance and family co-responsibility among collaborators, such as maternity leave, extended paternity leave, gradual return schemes after parental leave, and the time-off benefits program.
Progress has been made in preventing sexual harassment through the design and execution of a structured action plan, developed in collaboration with GenderLab (Peru) and the Inter-American Development Bank. In 2022, the company was recognized as one of the pioneering organizations in ELSA for its robust prevention system.
Commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment is further reflected in the adherence to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) of UN Women and the UN Global Compact, extending this pledge to the workplace, the labor market, and the wider community.
These efforts have led to consistent recognition in both national and international benchmarks such as Ranking PAR, positioning Telefónica Movistar as the leading company in the sector. In addition, the Equipares Gold Seal recertification in 2024 was achieved, making it the only organization with three recertifications under this standard and 100% compliance across all requirements.
