Telefónica is one of the biggest drivers of the digital economy in the country, with revenues of 7.12 billion pesos in 2023.
The activity of the company, which operates under the Movistar commercial brand, is fundamentally focused on the business of mobile telephony and connectivity, broadband services, fiber optics to the home, pay television, fixed telephony and a complete range of digital solutions for small, medium and large companies and corporations.
Telefónica is present in 80 cities and municipalities in the country with fiber optics, 240 with fixed broadband and more than 1.120 with 4G LTE mobile telephony.
Telefónica closed the third quarter of 2024 with a customer base of 24,4 million throughout the country: 20,8 million mobile lines, 1,53 million broadband customers -1,44 million with fiber-, 851 thousand pay TV (798 thousand with IPTV) and 1.4 million fixed lines in service.

Later, in 2006, Telefónica entered the fixed telephone market by acquiring a controlling stake in Colombia Telecomunicaciones S.A. ESP, corresponding to 52% of the Company’s capital.
Subsequently, and within the framework of capitalization and corporate reorganization processes, Telefónica increased its stake in the Company to 67.5% and consolidated it through Telefónica Hispanoamérica, S.L., a company also part of the Telefónica Group.
